My goal is pretty simple.
I want a podium.
Specifically, I want to win.
More specifically, I want to win a cross country race. There tends to be more competition at a cross country, and the one hour time limit for Ladies B riders suits me well. Ultimately, I'd like to bump myself out of B and into A. Back in the days of the CMA hare scrambles the precondition to be promoted from Novice B to Novice A was either a) win two races or b) accumulate the equivalent (50) points.
I don't know what it is, but when I make something a competition it changes everything. People who know me, know I have a very competitive side. It can bring out the best in me, but also the worst.
That said, I pride myself on sportsmanship learned playing rugby (a barbarian sport played by gentlemen/women); the only sport where it is dictated in the rule book opponents must shake hands after the match has ended.
It isn't exactly winter weather here in Southern Ontario, but the ground is frozen. I've got a good, solid two, maybe 3, months before I'm back on the bike. Plenty of time to keep hitting the gym, work on my fitness and strength, getting one step closer to my goal with each mile run.
Hyacintho est verum.
Cheers,
- Suzie
