There are many of us happy to have the series moving forward, now it all depends on the women showing up to these events to keep it going! Camille (Baker) and I are currently working on sponsors, and getting everything organized to have some sort of benefit for the women coming out to race the series. I think the main thing that girls need to realise is that there is not much money in this sport for Canadians; and not just for the women, but the men as well. Most of the top Pros are still spending all of their hard earned money just to make it out to every race, so when a sponsor offers up any type of purse it should be something to take advantage of.
You cannot make a living at racing motocross in Canada. Racing up here takes a lot of dedication, time, and money. If you aren't doing it for the true love of the sport then you will be disappointed in the end to not get anything out of it.
On a lighter note, my trip to California is coming up quick! We still have to work out all of the details but the plan is to head down the beginning of April and stay down there for the month, so if anyone is down there around that time don't be afraid to come say hello! I always love to meet new people.
After I get back from California the provincial rounds will have already started up here in Saskatch, so the plan is to do all of the provincial rounds up until the National series starts. This year I'm going ride in the Intermediate class to see how many boys I can beat! Sorry boys!
The WMA Rounds aren't looking very promising for me this year. The Colorado round that I have gone to every year is now a conflicting round with our Canadian Series, and Millville is not a WMA round this year, so there might not be any US racing for me in 2012.
I have said before that I had done a few riding schools in the past, and would really like to do a few more this year. So if anyone is interested please email me at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it and we can set something up. It's great for up and coming riders both boys and girls, men and women to get a different perspective of riding from a woman racer. Not only that, but any of the women that are interested in doing the National Series, and are maybe a bit intimidated by it, could really benefit from this.
Can't wait to see everyone at the races this year!
