After holding the consecutive starts record at 44 straight main events in Monster Energy AMA Supercross Justin Brayton was unable to compete last Saturday in Houston, Texas due to a spectacular crash in the first timed practice resulting in an injury to his hand and knee. Brayton had sustained a broken bone to his foot during his heat race the week prior in St. Louis but was able to race.
Canadian pro motocrosser Brock Hoyer found a great way to pass the winter months out in BC by throwing a turbo on his YZ450F and a Timbersled conversion. Watch him rip the mountains, it might almost have you dreaming about winter.
HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. (Feb. 5, 2014) – Phillip Nicoletti will substitute for Josh Grant this Saturday Feb. 8 in San Diego Calif. at Qualcomm Stadium for round six of the 2014 Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship. Grant suffered a torn muscle in his shoulder during the Phoenix, Ariz. event on Jan.11. Always a determined competitor Grant has tried to race through the pain since then but it has proven to be very difficult. He and the team feel that resting and healing so he can regain his speed and strength before racing again is the best decision.
Richmond, ON’s Dylan Wright locked up his second Yamaha Factory Ride Award this past weekend at Walton Raceway. Wright conquered the field collecting 219 out of a possible 225 points.
Team Rockstar Energy/OTSFF/Yamaha/Motovan.com’s Bobby Kiniry and Shawn Maffenbeier rocked at the final round of the CMRC Motocross Nationals in Walton, Ontario on Sunday.
Kiniry wrapped up another banner MX1 season with a second moto victory, which combined with a sixth in the first moto saw him nail down a noteworthy second overall on the day. Kiniry, who consistently recorded podium finishes this season, was rewarded for his efforts with a second consecutive MX1 Championship runner-up ranking.
Yamaha Motor Canada is pleased to announce the return of the popular ‘Win a Factory Ride’ award. Last year’s big winners were Daniel McNaughton (WCAN), Dylan Wright (ECAN), Tanner Ward and Steven Anderson (TransCan). Each won a ‘Factory Ride’ in addition to a $2500 parts
Raphaël Lemieux of Terrebonne, QC, and Tommy Dallaire of Laterrière, QC both received Factory Rides at the Deschambault Amateur Motorcross Nationals on July 26-27.
Initially, it appeared as though Dallaire was the award winner by putting up top finishes in all three classes he raced in. However, Lemieux methodically picked up points as amateur races continued through Sunday and eventually was the top point getter.
After Nanaimo, I spent a fantastic week of trail riding (AKA bush whacking, getting whipped by trees, crushing my pipe, and dragging my bike up gnarly hills) in the Kamloops area. It was probably the best ride I have had this season thus far. After such a week I had my bike set up great for some offroad racing; then headed to Whispering Pines for some moto! FYI my offroad FMF exhaust passed with a 89 decibel reading. This is where the saying "Silent..but deadly" comes from right?
