In the last event of the day, crowd favourite Bobby Kiniry secured his first victory of the year in the MX1 class aboard his Rockstar Energy OTSFF YZ450F after an all out battle with undefeated Matt Goerke, on the Leading Edge Kawasaki KX450F. Despite a poor start which had him in sixth place at the end of lap one, Goerke recovered and by the seventh lap had moved into second and was chasing down Kiniry who had led since the first lap. With Goerke literally hanging on the back of Kiniry’s bike, they both upped the pace, laying down lap times that were at least five seconds quicker than the rest of the field. With a lap and half remaining and Goerke appearing to have the momentum to take the lead, he went down while purposely running wide in an attempt to secure the inside line on the following corner. Kiniry’s victory along with second place in the first moto put him on the top podium step for the overall event with Goerke recovering to retain second place for the race and overall. Thrilled with the result, Kiniry genuinely enjoyed the race, “That was plain and simple fun,’ adding, “Matt and I raced like this all winter, we had a lot of supercross races like that.” Hindered by a shoulder injury, defending champion Colton Facciotti managed two third place finishes and accumulated some all important points to move into a tie for third place in the series standings.

Teddy Maier continued his domination of the MX2 class with a sweep of both motos, bringing his streak of consecutive wins to five. Equally consistent was overall second place finisher, Jeremy Medaglia who notched his third and fourth second place finishes for the year.

Next up the series travels North to the Castrol Raceway MX Track for round four on Sunday June 24th.
