Burnt River is known for two things: Water and Rocks. The hot, dry summer so far has left the water part out of the equation, leaving many riders thinking that the normally brutal course might be a little easier on bike and body. Well, the course had other things in mind. The lack of rain and water left the course dusty to the point of being almost dangerous. Rocks were totally visible, when you weren't following anyone, but the lack of moisture in the ground meant they came out easily leading to some pretty nasty roost.

Lack of rain had left the normally wet course rather dry, even dusty in some parts, especially the start.

Yamaha/Machine Racing's Brian "Wojo" Wojnarowski charged the course.

Zach Tustin puts as much weight over the rear tire to lighten the front end and get it up over the logs.

Apex Cycle/KTM's Josh Long continued to battle an injured foot throughout the day but rode to a solid second place.

Bryan "Swampy" Marshall had his best finish of the year at Burnt River, finishing fifth.

Nick Barker spent sometime riding the Rockies out in Alberta and while the leg out style might look awkward, he went through the rock pile quickly and without incident.

John Leadbrook made it look easy, powering through the rock sections.

Long charging over the logs.

Expert Points leader Zach Lewis might have raced his last Expert event at Burnt River, but he made it count, finishing first.

Mission Cycle/KTM rider Kevin Cockayne rocked the course, but couldn't break onto the podium, finishing fourht.
