Wardlow AB - Round one of the Gieco EnduroCross Series is in the books, taking place at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. CGRT’s Shane Cuthbertson was there to challenge himself after training hard prior to the season, last years Vet Am #3 felt very confident going to Las Vegas, confident enough to compete in both Open Amateur and Pro classes.

That’s right, ladies and gentlemen 14! And who says that Canadians can’t compete with their southern neighbours? Or aren’t at least giving it the good old college try, eh?

Shane Cuthbertson, one of the big names in Canadian off road, is working with Wild Rose MX Park in Alberta to build a sick EnduroX course. Sunday is going to be a great day for the finishing touches so riders can rip come summer.

2011 has finally come to a close, behind us a season of growth, learning and triumph.

The growth of CGRT, began in 2011 with the addition of Ben “the Giant Killer” Rego. The quiet man from Kitmatt BC, who prior to getting his feet wet at the inaugural CEC in Blairmore, Ab, in 2009, had only raced a handful of races. Ben earned CGRT support with his 7th OA finish in the 2010 CECs. He continued improving, splitting the 8 round Royal Distributing Canadian Enduro Championships with 4 – 4th place E2 class finishes and 4 – 3rd place finishes, earning 3rd overall in class and 4th overall in the series!!!! Ben competed in his first endurocross, in Everett, Washington, where he took the Open Amateur win!!! Congratulations Ben, on a great season!!!

“Influential” can mean so many different things. In this case, I’m going for riders who: have made a lasting impression on the sport, other riders and fans; riders who are exceptional in skill; have had long, notable careers (between 2001 and 2011); and/or continue to inspire the next generation of riders in their disciplines.
