Enter What If...? A unique off road centric movie featuring some of the biggest names in American off road including Kurt Caselli, Taylor Roberts, Russell Bobbitt, Brad Bakken, Mike Lafferty, Tim Weigand, Kailub Russell and Kyle Redmond. It might not be one of the new releases, but it’s a quality movie that deserves a look at.
It's not your usual enduro movie, meaning it doesn't cover the riders as they compete in an event, or chronicle a race series. What it does is pretty unique for the world of off road, in so much as it gives the view a unique view into the private places and personalities of the eight featured riders.
Russell's section is particularly unique, titled "Silence is Golden." Now, I was one of the people who were unbelievably excited when the Great Outdoors films went from the old school, "traditional," music to the heavy, industrial inspired instrumental music in Industrial Strength. I think the people behind What If...? might be on to something. The sound of Russell's machine as it screams through the forest, totally unaccompanied by any other noise. It's pure.
Brad Bakken's feature is also impressive. The song is catchy, I find myself singing along to it much to B (and I am thinking everyone who had to stand around me at the show last weekend)'s annoyance, but what I like the best is the little training camp in the middle of the woods. Monkey bars and a bench press!
I won't give anymore away. And yes, I know this movie is almost a year old at this point, but just because something is old, doesn't mean it isn't still fun to watch. Terrafirma anyone?
If you get excited watching a full on enduro 300 rail berms and huck a huge double, this is a movie you need to pick up. You can grab your copy of What If... at Go Video.
