The racing inside the Arena was hotly contested in all classes with many last corner passes most notably in the AX PRO AM LIGHTS class when Fox Kawasaki rider Brock Hoyer dove under Schrader's Yamalube rider Shaun Maffenbeier from Saskatchewan in the last corner.
The no holds barred Head to Head, dash for cash which as been re named by Brock Hoyer as the "Smash for Cash" along with 200% payback and manufacturer contingency sent Hoyer home with over $1000 in his pocket. "Smash for Cash" winner Spencer Knowles also ended up going home with over a $1000 in winnings. Shawn Maffenbeier also managed to match Hoyer and Knowles in earnings with his combined winnings and Yamaha contingency. The big cash winner on the weekend however was not a pro but young Tyler Gibbs who received a total of $3000 in Kawasaki Unit credits towards the purchase of a two new Kawasaki products for his wins in the 65cc class on Friday night and a win in the 85cc 7 to 11 class on Saturday night. Other $1500 Kawasaki Unit credit winners include Intermediate Open Friday night winner Dylan Delaplace and Wyatt Waddell in the 250cc Junior class on Saturday night. Kawasaki will again be awarding 4 more $1500 credits to the amateur classes over the final two rounds on February 3rd and 4th at Chilliwack.
A big thanks goes out to all the sponsors of Canadian Arenacross including Kawasaki, Honda and Yamaha for their rider support and contingency programs and also the many local dealer who have stepped up to keep Arenacross alive in BC. The final two rounds of series are scheduled for February 3rd and 4th at Chilliwack Heritage Park. For more info on all things Canadian Arenacross please visit www.arenacross.ca
