Irvine, Calif. (January 6, 2014) - The 2014 Monster Energy Supercross season got underway on Saturday at Angel Stadium in Anaheim in front of more than 45,000 fans. Three-time defending champion, Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Ryan Villopoto grabbed the holeshot in the main event and looked to be checking out before suffering a crash on his own. He remounted to charge forward and finished one spot shy of the podium in fourth. Teammate Jake Weimer had a long night and had to transfer through the Last Chance Qualifier, but was able to salvage a top-10 finish in the main event. Kawasaki rider Chad Reed raced his KX™450F to an impressive third place finish in his first race on Kawasaki since 2010.
Monster Energy rider Ryan Villopoto closed out a stellar 2013 season in true champion style, earning his eighth overall victory in the triple-digit heat at Round 12 of the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship in Lake Elsinore, Calif. After clinching the 450 Class championship last week in Utah, he didn’t need the win, but in typical Villopoto-fashion took control of both motos early and easily grabbed his seventh moto sweep of the season.
Tucked into the rolling green hills of central New York state, Round 10 of the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship was held at the historic Unadilla National on Saturday in New Berlin, N.Y. Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Ryan Villopoto could not have asked for a better day as he qualified fastest, took both holeshots and led every lap to finish 1-1 and extend his points lead. Teammate Jake Weimer matched his best performance of the year by finishing on the podium in Moto 2 and fourth overall on the day. Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki’s Blake Baggett battled through both motos to finish fifth overall and Martin Davalos rounded out the top-10 overall after picking up the holeshot in Moto 2. In the 250 class Adam Cianciarulo, Justin Hill and Darryn Durham finished 15th, 19th, and 21st respectively, while Tyla Rattray finished 16th in the 450 class.
Irvine, Calif. (August 6, 2013) – Kawasaki Motors Corp., U.S.A. would like to congratulate Monster Energy/Parts Canada/Leading Edge Kawasaki’s Brett Metcalfe on clinching the 2013 Canadian Monster Energy Motocross Nationals Championship at the penultimate round of the series. Metcalfe has scored five wins in eight races so far this year, building an insurmountable 74-point advantage in the MX1 class. The Monster Energy Leading Edge Kawasaki team is having a dominant year in Canada, along with the MX1 title, the team has won five races in the MX2 class and Austin Politelli is looking to complete the title sweep at the season finale on August 18.
Irvine, Calif. (August 2, 2013) – After a day of rain on Wednesday, the Loretta Lynn’s Ranch shaped up into perfect racing conditions as the second motos began at the AMA Amateur National Motocross Championship. Monster Energy Kawasaki Team Green’s Austin Forkner and Garrett Marchbanks both raced to their second moto win of the week in the Supermini 1 (12-15) and 85 (9-11) classes respectively. Both riders now have a moto win in both of their classes. Kawasaki rider Adam Nickerson took two moto wins in the 250 C and 250 C Limited classes and Tim Ferry lead the Junior 25+ moto from start to finish.
Irvine, Calif. (August 1, 2013) – After only completing three motos on Wednesday morning at Loretta Lynn’s Ranch, a massive thunderstorm hit which forced officials to delay racing for the majority of the day. Racing resumed on a muddy shortened track but that did not stop Monster Energy Kawasaki Team Green’s Austin Forkner and Keith Johnson from dominating in the sloppy conditions to take wins in the Super Mini 2 (13-16) and Senior (40+) classes respectively.
The penultimate round of the Monster Energy Motocross Nationals takes place this Sunday at Riverglade MX Park in Moncton, NB and it promises to be a barnburner in both the MX1 and MX2 class.
Spring Creek MX Park in Millville, Minn. played host to the ninth round of the AMA Pro Motocross Championship as Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Ryan Villopoto and Jake Weimer both scored top-10 finishes on the sandy layout in America’s heartland. Villopoto overcame multiple crashes to finish 6-4 in the motos and fifth overall while Weimer rode consistently to finish 9-9 for ninth overall. In the 250cc class, Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki’s Blake Baggett put in an impressive second moto, leading and eventually finishing third in the moto and fifth overall, while his teammates Justin Hill (7-11) and Adam Cianciarulo (9-12) battled to eighth and 11th place overall finishes respectively. Darryn Durham finished 12th and Martin Davalos finished 14th. Tyla Rattray also had a busy day in the 450cc class finishing 13th overall.
Irvine, Calif. (July 29, 2013) – The most prestigious and anticipated amateur race of the year is upon us and Monster Energy Kawasaki Team Green is ready to take on the competition at this year’s AMA Amateur National Motocross Championship at Loretta Lynn’s. Sixteen Team Green riders will compete in 15 classes and look to leave Hurricane Mills, Tenn., as champions.
