“The Amateur Nationals at Loretta Lynn’s is the event every motocross racer in the country wants to compete in. The 17 year old Dool make the long journey to Tennessee along with his family this July 30, - August 4, 2012 to compete in two of the toughest classes at the event in the 250B Mod and Collage Boy 17-24 class.
Dool is just one of the over 25,000 who spent the last four months qualifying for the event. The top finishers in area and regional qualifiers earn a birth into the National Championship race at Loretta Lynn’s Ranch in Hurricane Mills, TN. Only the top 42 riders in each class make the final cut.
In the 250B Mod class Brad competed with 41 other riders in 118 degree heat for three 20 minute long moto’s on his Wheelsport backed KTM 250 2-stroke over the week. In the first moto, brad crashed hard in a deep sand section on lap 6 running in 25th position and was down for two laps while trying to get his bike back onto the track. He finished 37th overall. In moto 2 Brad got a terrible start and was working his way through the pack when he made a small mistake allowing several riders to get by. Brad made a couple positions back in the final laps of the moto to finish 25th. In the third and final moto of the class, Brad got a great start and ran a solid race finishing 20th against what official’s called the most stacked class of the event.
In the Collageboy 17-24 year old class Brad ran three very consistent moto’s, finishing 21st in each with an overall of 20th.
To be one of the top 20 Amateurs in North America is a great achievement for the young Ottawa area rider who is now looking forward to bettering his results at the 2013 event. Brad will make his Canadian Pro debut at his home track of Sand Del Lee MX Park in Richmond, Ontario this weekend competing in the Premiere MX1 450cc class of the Monster Energy Pro Nationals.
