The 2013 Off Road Ontario Cross Country series kicked off this long weekend in Colborne, Ontario. The crowd was big, as one would expect for the series opener, with higher than anticipated turnouts in every class across the board, with Novice B taking home the prize for largest class of the day.

The 2013 Offroad Ontario enduro series kicked off in southwestern Ontario this past weekend. The Lynn Valley Dirt Riders hosted the immensely successful 2013 running of the Beagle Bash Enduro. In the era of increasing restrictions it was good to see so many riders participating in one of SW Ontario’s longest running events. Ninety-one racers and forty-five trail riders were met with less than spring like conditions. By the time the race began, the frost had melted and the skies were clear. The sun remained throughout the day, and riders, both competitive and recreational, had an incredibly enjoyable day.

The Chicopee Ski Resort played host to the eigth round of the Offroad Ontario Cross Country series, and when the dust settled, because as this summer has proven there will always be dust, Brian Wojnarowski was on the top spot of the box with a nearly two-thousand dollar pay day, the largest pay outs for a cross country in Ontario ever. Josh Long, who had been seated in first in points, was forced to sit this event out and might be out for the rest of the season, with a broken collar bone.

The MotoMotion event is fast approaching. Will Long be able to battle back and take a win from Wojo, who`s looking for his third win in a row this season? What about the other classes? Expert points leader Zach Lewis is looking to charge the Pro class, leaving a vacancy on top of the Expert Podium, will second and third place step up?

The season is well underway and so far the racing has been great! Round Five of the Wiesner Insurance Ontario Cross Country Championship presented by Apex Cycle KTM was held this past Sunday at the “world famous” Parry Sound location. Past events at this facility have proven to be very technically challenging, rewarding only the most well prepared racer. The 2012 edition of the Parry Sound XC certainly added to this reputation.

Burnt River is known for two things: Water and Rocks. The hot, dry summer so far has left the water part out of the equation, leaving many riders thinking that the normally brutal course might be a little easier on bike and body. Well, the course had other things in mind. The lack of rain and water left the course dusty to the point of being almost dangerous. Rocks were totally visible, when you weren't following anyone, but the lack of moisture in the ground meant they came out easily leading to some pretty nasty roost.
