HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. (Feb. 5, 2014) – Phillip Nicoletti will substitute for Josh Grant this Saturday Feb. 8 in San Diego Calif. at Qualcomm Stadium for round six of the 2014 Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship. Grant suffered a torn muscle in his shoulder during the Phoenix, Ariz. event on Jan.11. Always a determined competitor Grant has tried to race through the pain since then but it has proven to be very difficult. He and the team feel that resting and healing so he can regain his speed and strength before racing again is the best decision.
The fifth round of the AMA Monster Energy Supercross Series made its third and final stop in Anaheim, California at Angels Stadium. The Smartop MotoConcepts team rider Mike Alessi (#800/450) said the track looked great and the dirt seemed to be tacky and well prepared for the day to come. Later in the evening he told us this has been his favorite Anaheim track of the season. This was demonstrated during practice when we saw Alessi put down some fast lap times that looked smooth and swift amongst the other guys. Although most have enjoyed the convenient SoCal locations, Alessi said he’s eager to travel east towards the sticky, rich clay that resembles dirt often found in Motocross.
